Osteopathy

Getting to the root of the causes

Often the triggers or causes of our complaints aren't obvious at first glance. Attention tends to stay on the area where it hurts, and frustration runs high when local treatments bring no lasting relief.

Every restriction in function demands some form of compensation from the body. Movement limitations and other dysfunctions are therefore often compensated for in neighbouring regions of the body. Our body can compensate for a great deal, but over time — and with the sum of what are known as lesions — it falls out of balance, and symptoms appear whose origin not infrequently lies far from the area of pain.

The range of osteopathic treatment is broad. Alongside musculoskeletal complaints such as back, neck or joint pain, which are often the result of the mechanical strains of everyday life, systemic dysfunctions and illnesses can also affect the musculoskeletal system and show up here in the most varied ways. Biochemical aspects such as digestion, metabolism and breathing, as well as psychosocial factors such as acute or chronic stress, depression, anxiety or a lack of social support, often play a major role too.

Am I in the right place?

Whether preventive, supportive or interdisciplinary — from A for autoimmune disease to Z for cystitis — a wide range of treatment approaches is conceivable. It isn't always easy for those affected to judge whether an appointment with us is the right step, or whether their symptoms fall within our remit. To work out together whether osteopathic treatment is a sensible next step for your situation, or whether a conventional medical assessment and diagnosis should come first, we ask you to get in touch by phone or email.

Please understand that we can't conduct a full case-history consultation over the phone with every caller; the aim of such a call is simply to work out whether a first appointment at our practice is the right step for you.

Costs and reimbursement

Statutory health insurance: Most statutory health insurers contribute in part towards the cost of osteopathic treatment, provided it is carried out by a qualified osteopath with recognised training. As members of the Verband der Osteopathen Deutschland e.V. (VOD) — the German association of osteopaths — who have completed an osteopathy degree (at least 1,350 hours of training), we meet this requirement. Please note that a doctor's referral is usually required for billing. Please check the conditions and exact requirements for a subsidy or reimbursement with your insurer in advance and on your own initiative. If, as someone with statutory insurance, you have taken out supplementary Heilpraktiker insurance (covering the services of a licensed non-medical practitioner), this will usually cover the costs within the terms of your particular tariff.

Private health insurance: Most private health insurers reimburse osteopathic treatment — depending on the chosen tariff — as so-called Heilpraktiker services, in line with the German scale of fees for non-medical practitioners (Gebührenordnung für Heilpraktiker, GebüH).

A treatment with us costs 90 euros and lasts, on average, 50–60 minutes per session.

If your current financial situation doesn't allow for treatment, please talk to us.

Physiotherapy

Alongside our work as Heilpraktiker and osteopaths, we are trained and experienced physiotherapists, and here too we offer you a range of services (billing with private insurers only).
